Well, after a very long and disturbing election season, today is the day before the election. I don’t care if you are voting Republican or Democrat, as long as you vote your conscious and do the research.
I honestly do not think in all the years that I have been privileged to take part in our election process, that I have seen such a disgusting hate filled campaign season. I am not pointing fingers at any one candidate because I think that from the very beginning it has been an embarrassment for the American people!
The biggest problem I have had is that there are so many people out there who do not care about the truth. They see something posted online and will re-post it without a single thought of checking into the validity of the post. I get that people have their beliefs and some feel very strongly about one candidate or the other. It is however both terribly irresponsible and dangerous to post untruths about either candidate. Lies get us no where!! The sooner people realize that, the better off everyone will be. Just because you see something on the internet does not mean it is true. There are many avenues that allow you to “fact-check” anything you see. Really check the facts about everything you see and hear. There are many people out there who’s job it is to make you doubt what you think you know. They don’t care how they do it as long as they put the doubt and fear out there. They are hoping that you just follow blindly and do not do your own research. Don’t let them win!
As unfortunate as all of this is, we have a big day for our county tomorrow. There will be an election and there will be a winner and a loser. The country is so divided during this election cycle that I fear the reactions of some who are so completely vested in their candidate. Quite honestly, it is my OPINION, that neither candidate is qualified for the most powerful position in our country. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about the choices we have. We just have choose a candidate that best fits our visions of who might be able to take our country to where we believe it needs to be.
It is my belief that this is truly a decision based on the lesser of two evils. It is up to you to decide which evil is the lesser. All that I know is that come tomorrow evening after the ballots are counted and we are faced with the reality of our new President, we need to come together as citizens of this great country and rally together. Whatever the outcome, we must accept it and begin to heal the great divide that has happened during this last year. I realize that every election year there is division, but this year seems so much worse than past years.
Whether your candidate wins or loses, it is up to us as individuals to put all the nonsense of this election year behind us and make sure that we continue to do our part to make sure that our country remains the best country in the world! There are so many things that make our country great! Yes, there are definitely things that need work, but that is where we should come into play. Look around you and see what’s not great and decide if there is anything that you can do to make it better. I would be willing to bet that there is something that each and every one of us can do to improve something in our communities. There are so many good people in our country! I refuse to believe that if we all work together to improve just one thing that we as a nation just can’t lose!
So, tomorrow is the day. Win or lose – make an effort to win or lose graciously. There has been enough division and hateful words said throughout this election, by the candidates and their surrogates and regular people who are passionate about their candidates. When it’s over, I hope that we all remain friends with those on the other side of the vote. Stay civil with one another. Remember, everyone is entitled to their opinions and beliefs. Just smile and agree to disagree.
May God continue to Bless America and see us through whatever we are heading into!
It’s just me and my opinion!
Have a great day!
