Today is the First Day of the Next Four Years – What Are We Going To Do?

So here we are. The election is over.  For some – the unthinkable has happened. Donald Trump is our 45th President! What does that mean for us?

Let’s face it. We are at the cusp of an unknown era. We have never before had a person like Donald Trump as the President of the United States. Despite the beliefs of many – we do not know what this means for us as a country.

I believe that as our President-Elect, we should give him the respect the office deserves. The people already saying “Not my President” are doing exactly what the Democrats were calling out as undemocratic when Donald Trump said he would wait and see how the election went before he would accept the results. The people of the United States voted and Donald Trump won. He didn’t steal the election. He won it fair and square. I believe that as a country after such a long and contentious year, we need to come together. Rioting and protesting is not the answer. I understand that protesting is a right of every citizen in the United States, but at this point, what good will it do? We all know that there are a vast number of people who are angry and unhappy with the results of the election, but protesting will not change the outcome.

I think it only fair that now that he has been elected that we at least give him a chance to show us what he will do for us. Everyone who voted for Hillary would have expected the same had the results gone in her favor. We cannot expect anything good if we cannot come together.  In the end, we all want a prosperous country. If we as a nation continue the divisive rhetoric and actions that have been so prevalent during this past year, I fear we will never see anything that might be perceived as positive. I can’t imagine that anyone, despite who they voted for, would want that.

Take a break from the anger, the hate, and all the negativity that has been a daily occurrence in our lives for this past year and let’s hope and pray that Mr. Trump will bring something positive to all of our lives, even if it is in a small way. No President in the history of the United States has done a fantastic job in everyone’s eyes. I don’t expect anyone to jump on board and be a Trump supporter.  All I ask is that you not give up on our country because you don’t like Trump or what he says.

What we need to do now is to figure out how each of us can make a difference. Can you imagine what would happen if everyone in this country did just one thing that would make a positive impact on our country and the world? Just one thing! I think that it would be amazing! Being negative will get us nowhere fast! That is undeniable! Turn your unhappiness and disenchantment with the elections into something positive. Look around you. There is so much wrong in our country.  It should not be hard to find something that you might be able to do to bring about something good.  If we all focus on this instead of the unknown future President Trump brings, we will all win a little – no matter what else happens.

God Bless us all and The United States of America!!

It’s just me and my opinion!
Have a great day!
