Do you ever wonder how you ended up where you are? What exactly guided you in the direction you took in order to get you to the destination where you now reside? The here and the now?!
I have the answer to that! It is the choices that you made previously that got you to where you are now! You have so many choices in life. Do I eat this or that? Do I turn left or right? Do I go to school or find a job? Do I start a savings account or not? Do I go out with him or just say no? Do I say yes or no? Do we have children or not? Every single choice you make directs your life in one way or another. What might seem like a simple decision can change the direction of your entire life. Sounds drastic doesn’t it? It isn’t necessarily a big deal. It’s just an explanation.
The most simple way to say it is that every choice you make has a consequence. It might not be a big consequence, but there is one all the same. You choose to stay in the hometown you grew up in or you choose to move. That consequence might involve your family. You choose to start your life where you want, but you might lose the day to day connection with family. You choose to go to college. The consequence of that is that you open up more opportunities for growth in your career path. The consequence of not going to college is that you possibly put limits on your career path. You choose to marry your spouse. The consequence of that is that you are now a family of two with double the choices. You choose not to marry. The consequence is that you remain fully in control of your choices. You choose to have children. The consequences of that choice are endless. Your future choices affect more than you and your spouse – it affects the entire family. You choose not to have children. The consequence of that is that you have no added responsibility for the choices made.
That of course is a very simplistic explanation. Choices and consequences are much more complicated. There are choices that are made that have endless consequences and there are those that have few and very minor consequences. It is sometimes hard to decipher how big the consequences of your choices might be. Even if you try to work through all the pros and cons of making a decision, you cannot possibly anticipate every consequence.
I’m not going to pretend that I don’t believe there are good and bad choices. But that is just not my place to say or judge. I can only hope that people not judge me for the choices that I have made. Every individual is responsible for their own choices. Your journey will be what you decide.
I have made good choices and I have made bad choices. But they are my choices and I live with them. I am extremely happy with where my life had led me. Looking back there are choices I wish that I could change, but who knows where those choices would have brought me? The consequences of choices not made are irrelevant. They just make me appreciate the choices I did make. And even if there were choices I might have done differently, I certainly don’t regret any choices made. They brought me to where I am and honestly – I wouldn’t really change a thing about where I am today. I am exactly where I am supposed to be.
So next time you have a choice to make, put some thought into it. You just never know where it will lead you!
It’s just me and my opinion!
Have a great day!
